Mombasa’s MacKinnon market undergoing facelift

In line with the County’s vision of transforming Mombasa into a 24hours economy, Acting Trade Chief Officer Ms Asha Abdi led other Senior County Officers in inspecting the on-going renovations of MacKinnon Market in Old Town, Mvita Sub-county.

She said the Department of Trade, Tourism and Investment is investing heavily in the market through ensuring easy accessibility by improving access roads to the market, installation of security lights, water tanks and overall painting of the entire market.

For now, she said the market which is situated in Old Town, Mvita Constituency will only serve residents of Old Town once opened by Governor Ali Hassan Joho.

“Business is the cornerstone of our city thus we are committed to provide safe, convenient and organized spaces to enhance trade spaces and to improve the general business environment of our markets to attract more business,” said Asha Abdi.
