Rev. Calisto Odede has been nominated as the new presiding bishop of the Christ Is The Answer Ministries (CITAM).
Odede who has served at Nairobi Baptist Church, will be ratified on April 25th and consecrated in early June to succeed outgoing Presiding Bishop Dr. David Oginde who has served CITAM from 2010.
Oginde who is also the Chancellor of Pan African Christian University (PAC) took over CITAM on May 4, 2010 as the second bishop. His term ends in June.
Sources privy to VashMedia established that Odede’s nomination followed months of a vigorous nomination process that saw only three candidates proceed to the last stage.
His nomination came over the weekend by CITAM’s top management officials.
Rev. Calisto Odede graduated from Kenyatta University (Kenya), Trinity International University (USA) and Bethany International University (Singapore).
He worked with the Fellowship of Christian Unions (FOCUS), with students in Universities and Colleges for 13 years. This included pioneering and directing the Commission Conference, which is currently a major students missions conference in Africa.
He then served with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES), covering the Eastern and the Horn of Africa in the English and Portuguese speaking Africa.
Rev. Odede has served as Senior Pastor of CITAM Woodley, CITAM Karen, CITAM Valley Road and left to be a Senior Pastor of Nairobi Baptist Church, Parklands.
CITAM church which is among populous churches in Kenya, has branches in major parts of the country and is said to be among the richest in the country.
The church also owns broadcasting stations Hope TV and Hope FM based in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital.
